Fall 2011 Figure Sculpting & Drawing Classes

Saturday Figure Sculpting (Long Pose)
Sept 24th-Dec. 3rd (No class Nov. 26th)

10am-1pm $425 (30hours of Model & Instruction time)
10am-4pm $675 (50 hours of Model & Instruction time)

This fun and lively Figure Sculpting Class is great for the Beginner thru the Advanced Sculptor where you will progress to the next level in your work. Students choose from Half life-size figure, life-size portrait, torsos and reliefs or a combination of these. Come and Discover "The Speed in Which Form Turns".

Monday Sight Size Bargue Drawing (No Model)

Sept 26th-Nov 21st
2pm-5pm

The Sight Size Drawing technique is an intense drawing method that provides you with teh tools to achieve accuracy and confidence everytime you step up to the easel. Drawing is key to improving your skill at sculpting and painting and this method will boost your work to the next level. All Levels of experience welcome. Materials list will be sent upon registration.

Monday Sculpting Techniques:Process & Precision (no Model)
Sept. 26th-Nov. 21st
2pm-5pm
$325

Come to learn the "Drawing in Space" Sculpting method as we explore these technques thru working from plaster casts old Master style. Once you have the process established students come with their own pieces they want to develop and Karen takes them thru from the beginning composition, building the armature, sculpting & modeling to its finish.

From the Beginner to Advanced, hone your skills in the style of the old Masters as we work from plaster casts to learn the "Drawing in Space" sculpting method with the option to progress onto an independent study of your own. (no figure model)





Portrait Sculpting Workshop

Learn new and specific techiques that will solidify your process and modeling skills, as well as studying features closely from nature. All levels of Experience welcome.

Torso Sculpting Intensive

Focused on creating a torso, we will learn to compose ending as well as what makes a successful gesture filled composition. Figure & Portrait work is also an option in this workshop.

This class is excellent for the beginner thru the advanced to have the opportunity to take your time, stand back and really train your eye to see accurately.

Come to Draw and/or Sculpt! Yes Drawing is crutial to Sculpting. Come to hone your skills in front of an easal as you draw on paper and progress to a slab of clay as you learn Base Relief or sculpt in the round. Individual critiques allow us to create your own works that will take you to the next level of mastery.

*Note* This class has the option to take uninstructed so you can have plenty of Model time as we do one long pose over the 10 week course. Painters welcome. Drop-in's welcome at $20 per session uninstructed.



Each class includes a figure model unless otherwise noted. All levels of Experience Welcome. Class size is intentionally kept small(8 students max)to ensure plenty of elbow room and Instructional time for each student.
